Health Data Privacy: What to Check Before Using an App

Health data can reveal sensitive information about your body and daily life. Before using an app, understand what it collects, why, for how long and how it can be deleted.

Start with permissions and purpose

Grant only the permissions needed for the service. A clear privacy notice should explain data categories, processing purposes and sharing parties.

Understand retention and deletion

Check how to close an account, export information and request deletion. On-device processing can reduce transmission, but its scope depends on the actual feature.

Protect the account and device

Use a device lock, strong credentials and current software. Before sharing a report, check whether it contains identity details or unnecessary health information.
